Two-Prov Workshop with Dion Flynn

TWO-PROV WORKSHOP WITH DION FLYNN

Saturday, May 25th
1:00pm - 4:00pm

The Mopco is proud to announce a very special improv workshop. Dion Flynn will work with registrants on “two-prov”—the challenging and delightful art of creating spontaneous theatre with one partner. Dion, (perhaps best known as Barack Obama on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,) is co-creator of Clanging w/Josh and Dion with How I Met Your Mother star Josh Radnor. He was a principal member of NYC’s longest running improv ensemble: Big Black Car (BBC2) at The People’s Improv Theater in New York City, and won Best Two-prov Show with Nate Starkey at the New York Improvisation Festival for “Shackled: Two Convicts. One chain. No script.”

Don’t worry about bringing a partner! This class will get you working on the skills to create delightful two person improv no matter who your scene partner is.

In addition to his Presidential stint, he has over 45 appearances as 14 different characters on both The Tonight Show & Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Dion was cited by Oprah Magazine as “one of our favorite creative thinkers”.  Dion has led workshops in mental agility via improvisation with a large list of corporate clients. Voice-overs and on-camera national commercials include Sprint, Virgin Mobile and Verizon. Dion also makes live Obama appearances all over the world. Other stage experience includes Shakespeare in the Park, The Public Theater and The Guthrie. Dion is a 4 year veteran of the U.S. Army, and served overseas.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
18. We offer youth classes for younger improvisers! Check out our mopco.org/classes to find a class.

I’m feeling nervous about coming to my class. Should I still come?

Yes! Introverts and extroverts alike get nervous before their first class. The good news is everyone in the class is here to grow and celebrate creativity. We work to create a trusting and safe environment for our students to explore improvisation. You don’t need any special skills to do improv and we work to make that clear right at the top of class with games and exercises that show you how creative you already are. Your teacher won’t put you on the spot or make you doing anything before you’re ready.

How active are these classes?

Our classes involve a good amount of physical activity - you should feel comfortable being on your feet for at least an hour. Please email hey@mopco.org with any questions about accommodations for ability.

What is your policy on absences from class?

After two absences, students will not be able to participate in the performance at the end of the class.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Street parking is available on Union and N Jay street by our Theatre. Parking is available in the lot behind Pereca's as well as other public lots within a short walk of the theatre. The lot directly across from us is reserved for the Rossi & Ditorro Funeral Home and is not always available for parking. DO NOT park in the lot by JoJo’s Auto Service or you will be towed. Find our more and see a detailed map of parking options available around us here

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Contact us at hey@mopco.org for general inquiries or call us at (518) 577-6726

What's the refund policy?

Cancellations for a full refund must be made 7 days or more prior to the first class. Less than 7 days: Your place in the class is non-refundable unless we can get someone to fill your spot.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Please make sure we know who to expect in class.
