Let Your Body Free, Let Your Voice Free

with Rafael Haldenwang, David Wüthrich, and Vlado Salji of Imkubik

Sunday, October 6th from 4:00 - 6:30pm

Together we explore our bodies, their possibilities and limits. Who is my body? How to make it speak and to make ourselves listen. Emotions move us deep inside, but very little reaches the surface. We can release more of our inner movement with our bodies and our voice without using actual words. We can be so inspired by our body if we just let it follow its impulses. From movement evolves characters, who then create stories.

In this Workshop we train the ability to perform without using language by using your body and voice very instinctively. Be in connection with yourself, and with your partner to act and react.

About the Instructors:
Rafael Haldewang seems to be able to break the anatomical boundaries of the body and knows how to put even delicate movements in the spotlight. Rafi has been doing theater since 2008 and manages to recognize the difference between cabaret and madhouse. David Wüthrich always manages to surprise with his emotional outbursts and can lend even the most evil wretch a sensitive side. Dave jumps tirelessly on the boards of the world since 2008 and regrets none of his (teammates') bruises. Vlado Salji has an energy reactor in their head that can move their facial muscles and thoughts into unimaginable states. How this is possible without lasting damage is part of current research. Sali switched to improv business in 2012 and since then has been independently responsible for the confusion behind the stage.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

18. We offer youth classes for younger improvisers! Check out our mopco.org/classes to find a class.

I’m feeling nervous about coming to my class. Should I still come?

Yes! Introverts and extroverts alike get nervous before their first class. The good news is everyone in the class is here to grow and celebrate creativity. We work to create a trusting and safe environment for our students to explore improvisation. You don’t need any special skills to do improv and we work to make that clear right at the top of class with games and exercises that show you how creative you already are. Your teacher won’t put you on the spot or make you doing anything before you’re ready.

How active are these classes?

Our classes involve a good amount of physical activity - you should feel comfortable being on your feet for at least an hour. Please email hey@mopco.org with any questions about accommodations for ability.

What is your policy on absences from class?

After two absences, students will not be able to participate in the performance at the end of the class.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Street parking is available on Union and N Jay street by our Theatre. Parking is available in the lot behind Pereca's as well as other public lots within a short walk of the theatre. The lot directly across from us is reserved for the Rossi & Ditorro Funeral Home and is not always available for parking. DO NOT park in the lot by JoJo’s Auto Service or you will be towed. Find our more and see a detailed map of parking options available around us here

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Contact us at hey@mopco.org for general inquiries or call us at (518) 577-6726

What's the refund policy?

Cancellations for a full refund must be made 7 days or more prior to the first class. Less than 7 days: Your place in the class is non-refundable unless we can get someone to fill your spot.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Please make sure we know who to expect in class.
