Mopco's Improv Summer Youth Program
Two Sessions: July 22nd - July 26th & July 29th - August 2nd
Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Ages: 7 - 10
This two-week, half-day program offers students a unique opportunity to learn about improvisation and theatre performance basics. Students are guided by professional improvisers in developing their confidence, collaboration, communication, and creative thinking skills.
Students will work at their own ability and experience level with Mopco faculty to learn the skills needed to become an expert improviser. Each day will include improv classes and hands-on work and play with a whole range of theatre-related arts and crafts—puppets, stage sets, lighting, video, and more!
Performance Showcase - Friday, August 2nd @ 11:00am
Students enrolled in the second week of the program will perform in a final showcase open to parents and friends to attend. Seating will begin at 11:00am and at 11:15 am students will perform games and exercises that they had learned during their time in the program.
Whether your child is an aspiring performer or a bit of an introvert, improv helps build the innovators of the future. Students learn to trust their creative instincts, celebrate their unique perspective and develop confidence in their ideas. They'll stretch their performance range and develop stronger speaking and creative thinking skills all in playful, laughter-filled games and exercises. Students will learn to:
Be spontaneous and celebrate creative risk-taking
Work with what's in the moment
Collaborate with confidence and positivity
be a better storyteller and presenter
