Youth Troupe Show!

  • SLOC Education Center 427 Franklin Street Schenectady, NY, 12305 United States (map)

On Sunday, Nov 8 the youth troupe of the Mop and Bucket Improv Theatre Company will make their premier public performance at the Schenectady Light Opera Company at 1:00 pm. The show will take place SLOC's Education Center and will conclude at 2:00 pm. Please join us after the show for some cookies and leftover halloween candy. Tickets are a suggested donation of $5.

This performance is a culmination of weeks of rehearsal in which students worked on the fundamentals of improv: listening, cooperation, and creative risk taking. Youth Group director Kendle Butterworth notes that these are not only theatre skills but foundational principles of education: “Improv teaches the 21st century skills of collaboration, communication, and creativity that many schools advocate for but struggle to incorporate in the daily academic curriculum,” Butterworth said. For information about the troupe, please call Kyra at 518-312-3879 or email hey@mopco.org.

Mopco created the youth division last fall as a natural extension of their resident improv company, which performs weekly at Proctor’s and regularly around the Capital Region. The group also offers improv classes for adults, and will resume youth classes in Februrary. Info on the web at www.mopco.org.
