Crime Alley: Dark Comedy for Dark Hearts

CRIME ALLEY, The Capital District’s best (only) sketch comedy group, returns to the Mopco Improv Theatre

Doors Open @ 7:30pm, Event Starts @ 8:00pm

Crime Alley is the Capital District’s best (only) sketch-comedy group who recently placed in the Albany Times Union Readers’ Poll as one of the area Best Comedy Groups. They write and perform tightly scripted, story-focused sketches unlike anything you will ever see for a $10 ticket. Laughs are had, blood is spilled, and you will remember the show until the ravages of age claws the memory from your brain.

They’re not messing around here, is the point. Need a taste? You can check out our previous shows right here. <---

At their sold-out shows here at MOPCO, the Crime Alley players amazed the audience with comedy, music, and plenty of harrowing deaths. Performers WILLIAM HUGHES, BILL NETTLETON, NELL SHANAHAN, JON TENACE, and TEASY ROOSEVELT will continue their assault on mundanity with a night of NEW sketches.

These sketches are as uncompromising as they are funny. Children under the age of 18 are not advised to attend (unless they are cool).

The last show sold out completely, and you should not expect this to be any different. The Mopco Improv Theatre's Cafe has cold beer and hot hotdogs at REASONABLE PRICES!

The Crime Alley Players are:

William Hughes, a stand-up comedian. He has been seen at venues such as The Broadway Comedy Club, Improv Boston, and The Comedy Works. He was voted 2nd best comedian in the Capital District in The Alt Weekly’s 2017 Readers’ Poll. He has written the majority Crime Alley sketches and is, therefore, the de facto leader/fall guy. His mother is very proud of him.

Jon Tenace is a stand-up comedian from Albany NY. Jon has been featured at many comedy clubs throughout the northeast including the Funny Bone, Jokers Wild, and the Comedy Works, to name a few. Jon is also in a comedy music duo, Jon and Dylan who have also played in clubs and festivals around the country. Mr. Tenace is also a proud "used to be" Mormon and played second chair trumpet in his high school jazz band.

Nell Shanahan is a British expat now living in Albany. She believes that being an artist can be challenging and powerful but sometimes fart jokes are the solution. She strongly believes all dogs are good dogs. Nell has performed at the Albany Funnybone, the Saratoga Comedy Works, and Proctors Theatre, and is happiest in life making the loudest noise to the most people.

Bill Nettleton is the least talented person in the group, with very few credits to his name. Sure he performed stand up all over upstate New York for several years, but his true passion has always been high-impact low-cost interpretive dance. Now he writes sketches with much funnier people and reaps their rewards.

Teasy Roosevelt is an Albany and NYC based comedian slash burlesque performer. As a comedian, she has been performing stand up, sketch, and improv for over ten years. Her performance roster has included such shows as Jungle! Jungle! (improv), Adam and Emily at the Movies (Performed in the Tallinn Improv Festival in Tallinn, Estonia), was the host of the weekly Magnet Mixer, and co-writer and performer in the yearly remake of The Paul Lynde Halloween Special. She was also the creator of and a performer in Focus: an improvised parody of The View, which has been an official selection of the Ladies are Funny Festival in Austin Texas, The Boston Improv Festival, and The Montreal Improv Festival. Teasy has trained with the Upright Citizens Brigade, The Second City, The Magnet Theater, and The Peoples Improv Theater. She has trained with such instructors as Armando Diaz (founder of the Magnet Theater, Upright Citizens Brigade), Amy Poehler (UCB, SNL, Parks and Rec), Peter Gwin (The Colbert Report), Michael Delaney (VEEP, UCB), and Christina Gausas (30 Rock, UCB). Workshops have included: T.J. & Dave, Matt Walsh (VEEP, UCB), Mike Myers, and Charna Halpern (Founder of IO Chicago). Ms. Roosevelt has incorporated her love of presidential history and her extensive comedic experience into her burlesque persona. She is the producer of the American history burlesque show, Teasy Roosevelt’s Guide to Titstory and one-third of the producing collective, Pop Culture Provocateurs. Teasy can be found in various cities shaking her assets and twirling her tassels in a Nixon mask.
