The Only Brown Kid in the Trailer Park (Feat. The Tonight Show's Dion Flynn)

  • Proctors - GE Theatre 432 State St Schenectady, NY 12305 United States (map)

Late night TV devotees are non-partisan fans of Dion Flynn as President Barack Obama. A fixture on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and “The Tonight Show,” Flynn brings a new level of comedy to the highest office in the land. Many area residents know Dion from his days as a student at SCCC and SUNY Albany. You can see him in person, and still get to bed on time, when he comes to Schenectady August 30.

The Mop & Bucket Co,, Proctors improv company in residence, is delighted to present the Schenectady premiere of Flynn’s new one-man show, “The Only Brown Kid In The Trailer Park.”

Jimmy Fallon has described Flynn as, “One of the funniest guys I know.” Flynn’s autobiographical show is the story of his journey from growing up the only bi-racial kid in a trailer park--- where he quickly developed a sense of humor--- to appearing as the first black President on national television.

In addition to his regular appearances on “The Tonight Show,” Flynn is a member of The Peoples Improv Theatre, which has been voted New York’s best comedy venue by New York Magazine and Time Out NY.  He is the co-star of "Clanging With Josh And Dion" with Josh Radnor of  “How I Met Your Mother” fame. More than “just” a comedian, Dion earned his MFA in Acting from New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts. His theatrical history includes performances with Shakespeare in the Park, The Public Theater and The Guthrie Theater.

The Mop & Bucket Co., (Mopco) has been the improv company in residence at Proctors since 2007. Mopco co-director Kat Koppett and Dion are old friends--Dion has worked with Mopco’s corporate wing, Koppett & Co., as a trainer, improviser, and actor a number of times, and has taught master classes for Mopco several times in the past.
