Michael Burns Mansplains Politics (An Inconvenient Powerpoint)

Michael Burns Mansplains Politics (An Inconvenient Powerpoint)

A Workshop Performance of a One Man Show in Development

Doors Open @ 6:30pm, Show Starts @ 7:00pm

WARNING: THIS IS NOT A COMEDY SHOW.

An inconvenient Powerpoint augmented by brief scenes, resulting in a show that is part civics lesson, part psychodrama, part clown show, and part rant. Mansplains ends with a fervent call to action.

The show:

  • takes aim at the unchecked, rapid rise of a proto-dictatorship, and the culture of “lazy hatred” that is allowing it to flourish

  • Explores the gullibility of the American people, on both sides of our political divide

  • Looks at the “cowardly smug cynics” who spend their time saying “I told you so” and proclaim that they have dropped out of the voting process altogether

  • Suggests that it may already be too late.

  • But it asserts that just maybe…there is hope.

Burns says “it will probably offend everyone who attends, no matter their political beliefs.”

Along with attempting the slaughter of sacred cows, Mansplains explores a bit of history, explains a few key constitutional principles, and exploits an ongoing on-stage battle between the actor and an opinionated quartet of helium balloons.
