Cardboard Box Improv— Skunkworks

  • The Mopco Improv Theatre 10 North Jay Street Schenectady, New York, 12305 United States (map)

Cardboard Box: an improv duo whose next scene may make you crack up or tear up – you won't know until it happens, and neither will they. An audience member and a cardboard box provide inspiration for each improvised scene. It may be goofy or touching -- the only thing you’ll know in advance is that, whoever the characters turn out to be, they care about something, and that drives everything.

Cardboard Box is the creation of Hayes M Fields II and Riley Hart. Hayes has been
performing since he was a tot in his family's gospel choir. He was an experienced singer,
dancer, and actor before adding improv to his toolbox several years ago, studying at the Mopco Improv Theatre. His talent and heart soon landed him in Mopco’s main house troupe, The Mop and Bucket Company.

Riley caught the performance bug in mid-life. Her initial improv training was at Improv Boston in the “aughts,” and she led
a jam in Cambridge, Mass (called Home By Ten – Improv for the Middle-Aged and the
Middle-Aged at Heart) for years before moving to Schenectady and getting involved with Mopco.

These two earnest improvisors met in Mopco’s “alternative” troupe, Down the Rabbit Hole, and found their unique chemistry as a duo – sometimes silly, but just as often touching or bittersweet.
