This week’s judges

  • Denise Watso

    .

Denise Watso is an active member of the Abenaki Nation of Odanak living off reserve in Schenectady County. A community organizer for the majority of Abenaki band members living in the Capital Region, a hidden treasure of the Abenaki Nation.

A liaison for 20+ years to the elected government leaders at the Odanak Reserve for the purposes of cultural revitalization, family connections and activism. Organizing a Siquon (Spring) and Penibagos (October-leaf fall maker month). This week is exciting! The Band council sponsoring for the first time ever beginner Abenaki language classes to off-reserve Abenaki members!

    Seth Harris

Seth Harris is deputy mayor of the Village of Menands, a position he has held since 2013. While he has worked tirelessly to collaborate with community members to build a system of nature trails, install a StoryWalk on one of the trails, and keep taxes low, he is most proud to have made the motion to adjourn more than any other board member. He is also proud to have been the top vote getter in the past three elections, including two in which he ran unopposed. Seth is also a social studies teacher at Shaker Junior High School, where he is most passionate about teaching homeroom and supervising the cafeteria during lunch. When he is not making motions to adjourn or taking attendance, he is an avid kayaker, paddling approximately 3,000 miles on Lake George each year. In fact, he has even raced the Minne Ha Ha from Tea Island to Steel Pier and won! Seth has also swum the 32-mile length of Lake George and hiked the Lake George 12ster in less than 24 hours! He looks forward to fulfilling his civic duty as a judge for Mopco’s Theatresports.

    Katelyn Kelley

Katelyn Kelley is a proud Schenectady native and works in the front office at an oral surgeon’s office. She is proud to say that patients coming in for tooth extractions tell her that their interactions with her are the most pleasant part of their surgery! She got this job while attending a job fair for the free stuff, and ended up accidentally taking a job! Prior to this job, Katelyn had a successful career as a voice-over actress, her most famous role being the screaming goat in the 2018 movie, The Grinch. Outside of work, Katelyn’s real passion is baking, her specialty being strawberry shortbread fruit bars. She is working toward realizing her business potential and starting a coffee, sandwich, and sweets delivery service via boat on Lake George, appropriately named Star Ducks. Outside of work, Katelyn enjoys playing pickleball, where she is known as a big dill, kayaking to the islands of Lake George, and carving turns on the bunny slope at Jiminy Peak. She looks forward to furthering her public speaking career, which started when she delivered the maid of honor speech at her sister’s wedding, by serving as a judge for Mopco’s Theatresports.
